Early Spring in the Studio: Pop-Up Exhibition in Boston & Community Paint Nights

As March melts into April here in New England, the landscape is finally starting to reappear. The deep snow of winter has mostly melted away, & we’ve been getting those beautiful almost-50-degree days that make you want to put your hands into the earth & breathe that waking soil. It’s still mostly cold with that lingering New England chill—but those in-between days are showing up. They’re full of promise. That mix of lingering winter & emerging spring has kept me grounded & focused in the studio. While the woods & fields are shifting to the warmer climate outside, I’ve been busy [...]

Analog Coffee, Tiny Paintings, Hospital Hallways & a Glimpse of Scotland

The last couple of months have felt like a bit of a patchwork quilt: road trips, tiny paintings, hospital corridors, café walls, & planning a plein air adventure across the Atlantic. I thought I’d gather it all in one place & share what I’ve been up to & where my work is quietly living at the moment. road trip to Analog Coffee Co. Recently, I drove across to Franklin, New Hampshire with fellow artist, Sara Rae of Sara Rae Fine Art. We were on a mission to hang her show at Analog Coffee Co., a small, hip café with glitter disco ball vibes [...]

Newport Heritage Mural

In February 2022 the Library Art Center (LAC) in Newport, NH, USA approached me about joining a group of people in regards to a town mural that had fallen into disrepair.  The town had come to the point of pushing to have the old mural taken away.. Though it seems Newport had other ideas!    The LAC had the vision to reinvent this mural bringing back some of Newport’s heritage. At that time I had been invited onto the Library Art Center Staff as The Community Arts Engagement Facilitator & to me it made perfect sense for me to be the [...]

It's been a Minute

I have seriously dawdled in creating content for my blog posts. In fact, I have dawdled in creating art too! For the past five years I was caught up in a job that put so many demands on my time that I couldn't quite get into the groove of creativity without substantial lapses in studio time.  Don't get me wrong I did paint and I did get into the studio, however, that time was minimal for someone trying to create a habit of painting daily. I was able to provide a couple galleries with work and produced copious smaller pieces that [...]

Dirt Roads and other Paths

How many paths I've tread. So many dusty dirt roads. I've kicked dust and gotten stuck in the mud. A fairly new postal worker of all things! A 'rural carrier associate' to be precise. A means to an end? A job I never imagined and a detour in my view. While bringing surprising gifts it has also worn threads bare. Going into it I imagined a three or four day week, nevertheless, in this current postal model of business I have often found myself working seven day weeks with a few 13 hour days to boot.  The USPS is a corporation [...]

Art Critic in my Head

As an artist who wants growth I've come to the conclusion growth = depth of field. I want to discuss my art observations. I'd love for others to follow suit. So in order to make that happen I have to set the ball rolling. This evening I was viewing images when I came across a much older work of mine. This piece because it is that old I’ve been able to separate myself from any harsh critism. I have achieved growth since this particular painting was created.  This was inspired during my discovery of Atkinson Grimshaw who was primarly influenced [...]
